It is an inhabited area, placed on the hills with the same name, surrounded by greenery and very near the neat vineyards and small canteens, owned by the native inhabitants. It is only 10 km far from the center of the Municipality and the highway. The 4 km road in good conditions links it with the beaches of Hamalle that are in the north part of Municipality and the same distance separates it from the beaches of Rushkull.
From the balconies of the beautiful and reconstructed houses of Perlat one can view at any time of the day the wonderful scenery. At the top of the hill of Perlat, one feels like at the center of a big region, that has at the suburbs of a district, the hills of Durrësi, Shënavlash, Maminas, Manz and Ishëm and on the other side the circle, it ends with the endless horizon of the sea. Fans of pictures will not have a better chance to photograph the joyful sunrise from behind the hills or that goes down with laziness, right where the blue of the sea joins the rose color of the sunset sky.
The day of the tourist who decides to spend his holidays in Perlat will be indeed busy. He needs to hurry to enjoy the sand and the sea, to follow the fishermen in the beautiful mornings when they come from the sea together with the fish they have caught, to hear the funny sayings of the wise fishermen, when their nets are full of fish and to see even their sad eyes, while staring at their empty nets.
Then, it is the turn of the long walks in the fresh and never-ending greenness. They need to spend some time at the vineyards and canteens. They can also gather themselves the grapes or help the owners to do that. They can also choose themselves the wine in the numerous canteens of the region, and attend curiously the process of winemaking. It is such a great pleasure to sit on a bench and attend the thin strip of raki that drips down the distiller. They can easily learn how to fill the distiller with the fermented grapes, how to change the water that serves for the condensation of raki and even taste and judge its quality and grading.
The amateurs of the handmade products will have the chance to see how to knit and make the beautiful carpets of the region. The bended women over “avlemend”( primitive wooden machineries to make carpets) and young girls with “gjergjef” (loom) on their knees, make in the end some wonderful masterpieces. They do not have computers and do not know the sophisticated programs and the latest industry. In their brains, since ancient times, there are registered programs filled with fantasy, wishes and hidden dreams of their pure spirit.
Those who are on diet will have a hard time in Perlat. The food is so tasteful and natural, that it is so hard to resist and not to taste it all.
